Thanks Mark. Discounts & coupons lock you into a lowest-common-denominator business that's almost impossible to break out from. I have written about the effects of this brand & value destroying practice all of my professional career. Feel free to use any article or just ask and I will point you to them. The one set of facts that operator's who lock horns with us on this issue can never argue against is the numbers - check out Doing the Math on Discounting http://restaurantworx.com/are-you-into-doing-the-...

I recently had a fairly heated debate over the practice of discounting, couponing, BOGO, and various practices that are used in the restaurant business. My customer and I had a serious debate concerning the practice of which I am not a fan and I don't think I was succesful in persuading him not to go forward with the $5.00 burger Tuesdays.

Now after getting knocked off my proverbial soapbox and still licking my wounds I decided to scour credible sources to validate my position. What do I find? An article written over a year ago and had I had this in my hand my customer might have made a different decision and by the time I share this with them they still might.

Good Article!
